    Hi Marc,

You say your hull is a Bantock Vivid. Is this a new design? I can't find it on SAILSetc site.

    tony...

It is Grahams Hull. the vivid is a modified Fraktal. You are correct it is not posted on his site.

it has less wetted surface, and a narrower transom...

    Hi Marc,

great work - does the overlap in the packing tape you use on the form not leave its mark on the epoxied form once removed ? do you use any wax on top of the packing tape ?

    Cheers,
    Gilbert

it does leave a line the thickness of the tape. does not appear on the outside of the glass...

remember I an not building a mold. i'm using the male plug to make a hull...

after I pull a few more hulls off the plug, before its destroyed I will make a female mold.

I have done it without wax, and it releases fine... but I have no other basis for comparison. Ie if waxing makes it easier or not...

thanks for your response Marc, In an earlier post there was a question about weight. Here is a newsletter from Seattle IOM club where you can find some handy information about weight. see pages related to the built of the SKA design. If it helps.

Hi Marc, any development on your IOM ?

I'm gonna try your method of the packing tape to take a mold of the foredeck of an IOM before I cut it open so I can replace the piece I'll cut out - fingers crossed !!!

no not much....i cut out the transom and the bow. I was not happy with the the way they tuned out. holidays, the wing project, and an classic motoryatch build have kept me pretty much everywhere but with the IOM...

the other thing you could do would be to use saran wrap I have used it with some success... but it wrinkles so easily....

I did put an update on my post re the jib attachment point but it worked very well with the packing tape as you suggested. Brilliant...

Oh and Merry Christmas to you
